This very lovely bride wore her semi bespoke modern lace wedding dress to perfection. I customised and combined two designs to suit Josies’ ideas. The lace used here is simply divine, one of the loveliest French Laces that I offer. An intricate lace with a deep border allowing for a varied pattern distribution.
Josie married in Edinburgh travelling down for, not too many, fittings. I particularly love the way the dress buttons at the back look in silhouette, and the way the lace hugs the arm so perfectly.
Josie was a dream to work with. Having a very clear and passionate idea of how her dress was to look. The process was a dream despite the distance between us. The dress was a combination of my Mercy design for the under dress shape. The overlay which is normally a separate dress became an integral part of the dress, all joined as one. This gave me the opportunity to see another way of designing and making a new style!
I love how stunningly boho and beautiful the finished look is. Josie wanted to make something of her own towards the wedding . I provided her with the tulle and lace trim for her veil. The veil was made beautifully and is an amazing addition to the look.
When working bespoke or even semi bespoke as here I aim to be as flexible as possible. Working within the parameters of two existing designs helped to keep focused on what we were aiming to achieve. Unlike full bespoke where it can be a bit daunting deciding and visualising the end result. Semi bespoke can allow a bride to mix and match different elements from existing designs. Of course there are a few limitation. Such as different weights or textures of fabrics used in the original designs. That and certain shapes that do not combine too well.
In fact semi bespoke is the perfect way to strike out and chose a completely original dress of your choice with confidence.
